Circumference of a circle is a formula used to obtain the circumference of a circle. It depends upon the radius

of circle. Radius is the only variable involved in finding the circumference of circle. As area signifies the inside

part, it signifies the boundary of the circle. It has wide applications and also it is a very cost effective tool. The

formula of circumference of circle is given below:-

Circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r

This can be understood by the detailed examples, which are shown below:-

 

Example 1:- Find the Circumference of circle when diameter is 56 cm.


Solution:- Given the diameter of circle, d is 56cm.

 So the radius of circle is (radius is always half of the diameter), r = d/2 = 56/2 = 28 cm.

 Now circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r

 Therefore Circumference of circle, C = 2 x 22/7 x 28

 So C = 176 cm.

 Hence the circumference of circle = 176 cm.


 
Example 2:- Find the Circumference of circle when diameter is 98 cm.


Solution:- Given the diameter of circle, d is 98 cm.

 So the radius of circle is, r = d/2 = 98/2 = 49 cm.

 Now circumference of circle = 2 x pie x r

 Therefore Circumference of circle, C = 2 x 22/7 x 49

 So C = 308 cm.

 Hence the circumference of circle = 308 cm.
