Area of a circle is the region covered by a circle by the bounded curve around it. The formula to calculate the area of the circle is π × r2. Here, r is the length of the radius for the circle. The constant distance from the center of the circle to any point on the circle is called as radius. The value of π is used to find the area and its constant value is 3.14. 


Example 1: What is the area of the circle which has the radius r of 2.5 cm?




The radius of the given circle is 2.5 cm, i.e. r = 2.5 cm.

The formula for area of the circle is = π × r2

Here the value of Pi = 3.14

This makes the solution = 3.14 * 2.5 * 2.5 square cm = 19.625 square cm.

The area of the given circle with radius 2.5 cm is 19.6 cm2 approximately.

Hence, Area = 19.6 cm2


 
Example 2: What is the area of the circle which has the radius r of 11 cm?

The radius of the given circle is 11 cm, i.e. r = 11 cm.

The formula for area of the circle is = π × r2.

Here the value of Pi = 3.14

This makes the solution = 3.14 * 11 * 11 cm = 379.94 cm2

The area of the given circle with radius 11 cm is 379.9 cm2 approximately.

Hence, Area = 379.9 cm2
